About her youkai form: For her, she needs a reason to go into her youkai form, she can't fully control when it happens. Usually the trigger is fear or anger. Her skin grows paler and her hair is flattened down by oil. Instead of saliva, she has oil in her mouth, and a few smudge marks (in the drawing above, there is only one on the corner of her mouth- that one is basically always there). She dons a yukata that is white fading to a pattern- the white is to contrast that oil that she may get on her. When she goes into her youkai form her yukata starts off clean and the longer she stays in that form, the more likely it is to get oil on it. Her throat, mouth and stomach are all coated in oil.
She has a few abilities. One major factor for some of these are te fact that her skin is extremely fire resistant- almost fire proof. She is able to make the oil secrete out of her pores and use it for self-defense by burning it. She can also bring up the oil and spit it at enemies to set them on fire.
Even in her youkai form, she isn't too much of a strong fighter. She can defend herself, yes but she doesn't know how to properly fight. She may lack form and discipline, but she still packs a mean punch.
On her back right hip, there is a leather flask of oil attached to the sash. The purpose for this is simple- if she depletes too much oil from her system she needs to replace it. It's the equivalent of dehydration. If she doesn't drink enough oil in her youkai form, she must drink an excessive amount of water in her human form.

Personality: Josephine is a very sweet, lady-like girl when one first meets her. However, that is very far from the truth. She can be crude, funny, and a little bit mean. Although she maintains that sweetness even after one gets to know her, there's a bit of bite to some of her words.
She's more inclined to lay around home and watch movies than she is to go out and party. However, she can be a social butterfly in a casual setting.

Background/History: As a child, she didn't know about the youkai blood in her. Her father was aware it was in their family but because it hadn't shown any signs of potency in many generations, he didn't worry about it. Even though he didn't worry about it he was still cautious, putting up traditional things to keep evil spirits and youkai away. One day, when she was about 10, she started to have what she believed to be vivid nightmares about monsters trying to get her. When she revealed this to her parents, her mother comforted her and told her it was only a dream. Her father knew better than to chalk it up to a child's wild imagination.
About a year after the nightmares started, she changed one night after she was terrified. With a loud scream, she woke up her parents. Her father came in first to find her in her youkai form. He picked her up and brought her to the bathroom, trying to wash as much oil off her as possible. He told his family the story and why this was happening to Jo the next day at breakfast. At that moment, Jo's older brother, Charles (he is about 8 years older than her), decided it was his job to protect her. And so he did, he would stand infront of Jo's door, making sure no monsters came for his little sister. But, as suddenly as this new information was thrusted upon them and their world turned upside down, it stopped. The monsters stopped, her nightmares stopped and everything went back to normal. Her father suspected it was the pent up energy attracting them and now that Jo had turned and released the energy, it was done for now.
She lived on after that, aware of her blood and what it did. She went to college got a job and had a normal life. Until one day she was attacked again. Panicked, she called her brother. He said he wanted to protect her but couldn't, that's why he was prepared. He had searched for some place of refuge for her and eventually found Maison de Umagoyashi. He sent her there and well the rest is yet to unfold.
About the other family members: Her mother is French, hence her and her brother's names and her blonde hair. Her father is Japanese, hence her youkai blood and last name. She is very close with her brother, and misses him dearly. He has a family already but stays in contact with Jo.

Additional info: Jo has a morning routine. If her routine is interrupted it throws her off and puts her in a bad mood. (Her routine is basically this: wake up wash face and get dressed, go for a run- approx 20-30 mins long, come home, shower, dress, have food)
She is somewhat of a cinephile (someone who has a great interest in cinema, movie theory, etc)
Her most prized possession is probably her laptop
